ADORE VINTAGE

For those in search for the perfect vintage, look no further than Adore Vintage! Crammed with vintage clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery, and even a newly established couture section, as well as a menswear section, it provides the opportunity to every vintage-lover to grab a unique piece.

Adore Vitage opened to the public in November 2004 and has been going strong ever since with very devoted lovers. It is owned and operated by Rodelle, who does the buying, measuring and cleaning, as well as the photographing, shipping and managing of the website (and she does fantastic work!). You can often see her modelling the clothes as well, in a very playful way.

One of the of the site's plus is the careful explanation on sizes and measurements. International shipping is another bonus too, as Adore Vintage posts world wide. So even if you are a Timbuktu resident, Adore Vintage can still reach you! At the moment the shop has been replenished with lots of great pairs of shoes and more dresses and vintage tops are on the way, so I ll probably be making an order or two!

CLOSET VINTAGE TREASURES

Vintage clothes and accessories are hardly a piece of news for fashionistas: celebrities adore them, stylists regularly trawl vintage shops hunting for unique pieces, and designers look for references and inspiration from past creations.

When in search for vintage, the options are endless. You can riffle through the racks of clothes of vintage shops, make orders online through websites, and even better, you can check out ebay for some real bargains. However, and as much as it may sound like i am stating the obvious, where else could you find vintage treasures, without having to break the bank, than your mother's closet?!

While attempting this myself, and going through my mum's drawers, i was in luck by tracking down lots of vintage earrings from the eighties. Earrings in every colour you can imagine. I quickly picked out my favourites, a pair of well-made, sparkly, colourful flower earrings, absolutely gorgeous! I can't really picture myself wearing any of them however, at least in the near future, but I still love just looking at them!

My mum has not been wise enough to keep her old clothes though. Looking back at the family albums I go crazy over some pretty dresses she used to wear! They would have been great vintage findings had they been rescued from the trash bin years ago. Minus the padded metallic jackets, permed hair and heavy make-up of the eighties (the mistake of a decade!), I can never prevent myself from drooling over the pictures and exclaiming: "Mum, I can't believe you did that! You should really have hold on to those dresses!".
